iOS Shortcut for the Reddit Blackout

I threw together this quick iOS Shortcut Automation for respecting the Reddit blackout:

Any time my muscle memory kicks in and tries to open Apollo on June 12 or 13, my phone will redirect me to a certain YouTube video instead. There doesn’t seem to be a way to share automations in Shortcuts, but you can recreate this pretty easily:

  1. Open the Shortcuts app on iOS
  2. Tap the “Automations” tab at the bottom
  3. Tap the + button in the upper-right
  4. Choose “Create Personal Automation”
  5. Choose the trigger “App” and set it up to run when Apollo (or your Reddit client of choice) is opened.
  6. Add the actions in the screenshot above
